ABOUT US

"...we've decided the most immediate way to help is through debt relief."

Our focus is on financially helping poor, dissenfranchised families and adults coping with autism.  However, studies have shown that families actually become poor and dissenfranchised because of coping with autism.  We are aware of the many methods of treatment and varying degrees of the autism spectrum.  It is for this reason that we've decided the most immediate way to help is through debt relief.

Michael Buckholtz, who is the founder of Aid Autistic Children Fund, lived 35 years of his life neither knowing or fully understanding his condition.  For years he was confused and conflicted by his inability to 'not connect' on an emotional and social level with others.  He often felt left out and painfully uncomfortable in normal social situations because of this.  He tried to fit in, though, by observing the behavior of the people around him and on TV, especially comedians (Michael is a really funny guy).  By observing, audibly practicing and then testing these behaviors on aquaintances and close friends, Michael became the ultimate chameleon.

By the time Michael reached his 30's, he was a record producer and single father raising an NT daughter.  His symptoms were getting worse.  Close family friends, who did not know Michael's immediate family, suggested he look into Asperger's Syndrome as a reason for his situation.  They sent a letter directly to his family filled with news articles and documents about Asperger's Syndrome.  Michael owes his life to friends who were genuinely concerned about his lack of emotional and social connection.

Michael has written a book, not yet published, about how he managed to live in his world of social disconnect.  He has had many crushing failures in his life and only wants for others in the autism community to get the help they need as early as possible so as not to fall into the same conditions of despair and financial ruin.  Michael went without food and would have even been homeless if it wasn't for family.  It is for this reason he started Aid Autistic Children Fund and has become a fulltime advocate for the Autism Community.

Aid Autistic Children Fund is dedicated to giving relief on a case by case basis.  Today, Michael is happy to just have food on the table and a place to live.  Families with those very concerns are the ones we tend to hear from.  They care more about the welfare of their autistic child (children) and will give up all of lifes comforts for them.  We give assistance to autistic adults and families who've done everything they could do and haven't any other options.  When you've applied for all the programs and used up all of your heathcare, there needs to be a last resort option (a "SafetyNet") and we plan to be that for a long time with the support and contributions of a caring national community of American citizens.
